Having a good internet connection requires a lot more than just a large bill. You need all the right equipment to ensure that no data gets lost on the way, nor does it get slowed down before it gets to your device. This is why it is very important to invest in a good router that will not only help you get the fast internet you paid for, but will also give you seamless Wi-Fi connection with good coverage all over your house or apartment.

In this article, we review the TP-Link AC1200 to see why it is the ultimate budget router for you and your family.

Router Features

TP-Link AC1200 Review

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Easy to Install
  • Great 5GHz Performance
  • MU-MIMO Data Streaming Support

Cons

  • No USB Connectivity
  • Non-Removable Antennas
  • Low 2.4GHz Performance

The fact this router is cheap doesn’t mean it lacks the important features that you find in more high-end routers. With this router, you get 4 gigabit LAN ports that will connect all your devices with cable to ensure no lag or network drop occurs, you also get MU-MIMO support for data streaming, something that isn’t usually found in low-end routers.

This router has 5GHz Wi-Fi support with some really great performance, although its downside is more noticeable when connecting through its 2.4GHz band connection.

The 2 other features that in my opinion this device should have but lack are USB connectivity and malware protection that is usually found built-in in some other low-end routers.

When it comes to the router’s design, it has a few hits and a few misses. The device comes with 4 built-in antennas that are NOT removable, something that can be a little annoying depending on where you decide to place your router.

This router is powered by a 750MHz SoC processor that can deliver internet connection up to 300Mbps on its 2.4GHz band, and up to 867Mbps on the 5GHz band.

It’s also important to note that the TP-Link AC1200 uses 802.11ac Wave 2 technology for faster connections. The router also has a mobile application that allows you to access some basic settings and security features. And if you don’t like using the app, then you can just login to the web portal that is by default on http://192.168.1.1 . It offers the same settings and security features as the mobile application.
