For high-end users who are looking for something that is off the charts, we don’t think you can find anything that is better than this. The Linksys WRT1900AC is one of the most powerful and most feature-filled routers you can ever find today on the market. With the high price point that it comes with, it truly does not disappoint.
Just because this router is all expensive doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a few downs like it has its ups. It’s important to note that this router is quite expensive and not a lot of users will be comfortable paying that price for a router, but if you’re going for this router option it means that you’re after something with high performance and for professional, and not personal use.
Using this router in your office building is a great idea since it comes with a really great range. The router’s web settings aren’t the easiest to travel through in the world, but assuming you’re a bit tech-savvy, this should be absolutely no problem.

Design & Features
When you first look at this device, it truly is a complete redesign from everything Linksys has released lately. In fact, this router looks more like the old generation routers from the same brand than it looks like a new one. It has a very big body, and 4 antennas coming out of 3 different sides.
The way this router is designed to be mounted on the wall, as well as be put on a bedside table or wherever you choose to place it.
Maybe you don’t like the design very much, but if anything, you’ll love the router’s hardware and its internals thanks to how capable it is.
This device runs on a 1.2GHz ARM-based dual-core processor along with 128MB of flash storage onboard, and a 256MB DDR3 RAM, making it the most powerful device you can get your hands on anywhere in the world. What makes this hardware even more important is the fact the device supports third-party firmware if you want to get the best out of your router. By the time you’re reading this, OpenWRT, Tomato, and DD-WRT will have already released compatible firmware that will take advantage of the hardware this device has.
On the router’s 5GHz band, you can get speeds up to 1,300Mbps, and up to 600Mbps on its 2.4MHz band. Of course, you get the 4 gigabit LAN ports at the back of the router, a USB 3.0 port, and a port that can work as either USB 2.0 or as an eSATA connection.
On the front of the router, you get the usual LED lights that show which status the device is on, they can be quite helpful since you don’t have to go the settings to find out what your router is doing. If you happen to be someone who is bothered by the lights, you can turn them off altogether from the router’s web settings, except for the power light.
Setting Up the WRT1900AC
Setting up this router is easier than ever, although the web interface is a bit complicated, there is a way that allows you to start using this device right when you take it out of the box.
Underside the router, you’ll find the default settings printed there. Following those settings, you’ll be able to use the router and connect to the internet the moment you have plugged it into the wall.
But since you’ve bought this router, you’re here for more than just that and you’d like to take advantage of all the features and benefits it has. This is where the web interface comes in handy. By going to the default IP address (192.168.1.1), you can use the default username and password to access your web interface, and start getting more advanced with your new router. The router also allows remote access through the website linksyssmartwifi.com, to which you can log in using your Smart Wi-Fi account.
Not only that, but you can also take advantage of a few mobile apps that will make your user experience all the better and easier. The mobile apps are in my opinion the router’s best feature since you don’t have to go through the web interface that can sometimes be overwhelming. Instead, using an app that is very simple and easy to use is much better and doesn’t take nearly as much time.
So, should you go for it? The answer is a big yes if you want something advanced, high-performing, and with great network range. We hope this article was beneficial for you, and we wish you the best of luck on your router hunt.
