First, start by connecting your internet modem to the Linksys router through the internet/WAN port on the router. Secondly, connect your computer to the Linksys router using an Ethernet cable. You will find 4 Ethernet ports on the back of the router but just connect it to anyone of them.

As you have everything connected now, proceed by plugging the power cable of the Linksys router. As your turn on the router, you should have these lights powered up: power light, internet, wireless, and one of the Ethernet lights where you linked your computer.

Step 2:

As a second step, you have to log in to your Linksys router configuration menu. On your computer, open the browser and type this into the navigation bar 192.168.1.1.

This is the default IP address given to your Linksys router. Leave the username tab blank and type “admin,” which is the password to log in. If the router already had a password, but you don’t remember it, you have to reset the device to be able to use the default password.

Step 3:

Now, as we landed on the configuration page of your router, you will have to change the internet connection settings. On the left board, click on “connectivity” under the router settings. Then on the top of the page, click on “Internet settings.” The page will show you the “type of internet connection” which you need to modify.

If you are using a standard cable internet service, just leave it on “Automatic Configuration – DHCP.” However, you should enable the “Mac Address Clone” option. To enable it, click on “Apply” by clicking on “Clone my Pc’s Mac.” Unplug the power for 10 seconds, then plug it and wait for at least 30 seconds.

If you have DSL internet service and your company provided you with a PPPoE username and ISP password, modify your internet connection to PPPoE. Type the username and password provided by your company and apply the changes.

If your internet service supplier gave you a static IP address, then modify your type of connection to “Static IP Address” and click “Apply.”

Step 4:

After modifying the settings on your router, connect your computer to the router. If you can browse online successfully, this means that your modem is connected to the modem.

Step 5:

On the left board, click “wireless Tab.” You will have two different options, which are the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz. Change their names using two different ones. Type in a password and save the changes.

Step 6:

Finally, connect all your devices to the wireless Wi-Fi connection using the same password you chose earlier.
